Subject: preparing my weapon

Sirs
I've read and heard enough about your product to know it is everything it is advertised to be. However I have a question. The weapon I was issued was treated by CLP for years. I have cleaned it as best as possible. I used laquer thinner, as it is the best universal solvent I've found to remove petroleum products. Can I prep my weapon with this? If some of the old CLP remains, will the Militec still adhere, or penetrate this old gunmetal? Will using laquer thinner to prep be detrimental to the militec? What do you recommend to prep a weapon with? Thanks for keeping the miltary safer with a great product...hooah!

Dear Sir,

Thank you for your message and GREAT question.

If you have used lacquer thinner and found that it cleans and there is no downside in using it, continue to use what works. MILITEC-1 will not be affected by it.

Once your weapon is clean, or relatively clean, apply MILITEC-1 on the inside and outside surfaces. Once you fire your weapon, MILITEC-1 will start to impregnate the surface pores of the gun-metal. Once the weapon is hot, MILITEC-1 will get underneath any old caked on fouling or lube that may be present. After a second application of MILITEC-1, the old deposits that may have been previously there, will be lifted off from firing and subsequent cleaning.

Once MILITEC-1 is impregnated into the gun-metal, lacquer thinner will not take it off. Furthermore, if you fire a few rounds or a few hundred rounds, you can clean your weapon without applying more MILITEC-1 since it has conditioned your gun-metal. The self-lubricating effect of MILITEC-1, will last at least a thousand rounds, providing it had the opportunity to impregnate the gun-metal, as a result of getting your weapon hot on two different firings.

You will notice, MILITEC-1 will keep on improving the performance of your weapon up to the third time you apply it.

We do not recommend a specific cleaner, however, like the Secret Service would say, if something works, don't change a thing.

Please let us know if we may be of additional service.

God Bless You and your Fellow Soldiers.

GO ARMY.....!

Very Respectfully,
